Why GameSmart exists
GameSmart CIC was founded by Craig de Vos, a strategic programme leader who managed the UK's largest national gambling harms education programme for over five years. During this time, the programme directly delivered workshops and training sessions to more than 250,000 young people, professionals, and parents.
During a successful pilot campaign in several primary schools, Craig and his team uncovered clear gaps in provision and concerning levels of harm linked to gaming, highlighting the need for a programme specifically targeting these areas of concern.
While gaming is a positive and meaningful part of many young people's lives, schools and families told us they lacked clear, trusted, and non-judgemental support to help children navigate challenges such as screen time, in-game spending, and online interactions.
As a Community Interest Company, we reinvest in co-designed, inclusive initiatives that reflect youth voice and sector best practice. Our mission is simple: to make gaming healthier, safer, and more inclusive - for everyone.
